I had 2 dreams about a body of water. First I was on a boat of some kind, and the river was full of water, and waves. So much so that there were ships on the water. I am a former member of the Navy and it felt like I was on a Naval vessel. I was not alone I was on this vessel with others and we were shouting and carrying on because the driver was accelerating and we were motoring throught the body of water quite rapidly. There was a sense of freedom, and fun. We stopped in an area where there was land, sort of a sand bar. On that sand bar there was this strange looking animal that had a pale and greyish colored skin. It walked upright and it looked like a turtle without a shell. Its skin was very leathery looking and it was soaking wet. It was covered with a cloak of seaweed. It was also eating seaweed at the waters edge. It posed no threat to me. It was A species I had never seen. In the second dream I was on the bank of the same body of water with others, but most of the water was gone save a small pool. I decided to go to the other side alone and set out to get there. I was instantly transported to the other side. Now on the other side I saw the river from the other side and there was just sand. I could see the other side of the river that had completely dried up. I also noiced that the sand was still wet. I was at the bank of this former body of water and there were two large rocks. In the gap betwee the two rocks there was this animal again still feeding on something that appeared to be seaweed but again it posed no threat, but it now it looked sad somehow. It didn't notice me at that moment I remember being intrigued by the fact that the sand had formed this elaborate wavy pattern that was the bottom of this former body of water. I also remember that i couldn't help but to place one foot in the wet sand to feel the consistency. It no longer felt like sand it felt different unlike anything I ever felt before. It had a really mushy consistency. It was still soaking wet like the animal, but no water. Then the animal saw me and looked at me steadily eating this plant life from the sea, and it looked sad, very sad, and then I woke up.
Dreams about water often symbolize emotions, intuition, and the subconscious mind. Your experiences in these two dreams can be interpreted in several ways.
Vessel and Freedom: Being on a vessel in a lively body of water suggests feelings of freedom, adventure, and a sense of camaraderie with those on the boat with you. This aspect may reflect a reunion with your past Navy experiences, highlighting aspects of teamwork and shared journeys.
Animal Encounter: The strange animal you saw could symbolize parts of yourself that you are just beginning to understand or embrace. The fact that it resembled a turtle without a shell could indicate vulnerabilities or aspects of yourself that you feel exposed or unprotected. The leathery skin and seaweed cloak may represent adaptability and resilience in facing emotional challenges, as well as connection to nature.
Setting and Context: Shouting and having fun during the boat ride reflects a temporary release from stress or worries, pointing to a need for joy and spontaneity in your life.
Dried-Up River: The shift from a full river to a mostly dried-up one suggests a transition or a change in emotional states. It could mean that you’re experiencing a period of emotional drought, or that certain feelings or aspects of your life that previously flowed freely are becoming stagnant or reduced.
Transportation to the Other Side: Instantly being transported to the other side of the river signifies a desire for change or progress, possibly to seek clarity or find resolution in a situation. This highlights a feeling of control over your journey.
Wet Sand and Consistency: The “mushy” consistency of the sand denotes fluidity in your emotions, perhaps indicating that while things may seem dry on the surface, there are still underlying feelings or concerns that need attention. The elaborate patterns may signify the complexity of your thoughts or emotions.
Animal's Sadness: The change in the animal's demeanor from neutral to sad could mirror your feelings of loss or longing in your life. The fact that it no longer poses a threat suggests that while these feelings are significant, they are manageable and need understanding rather than fear.
These dreams, taken together, may suggest that you are navigating a journey through your emotions and experiences. You may be grappling with adjustments in your life that either lead to freedom and joy or transitions that feel more barren or desolate. The combination of the lively first dream and the contemplative second dream implies a reflection on balance—how you seek joy and fulfillment in life while also acknowledging moments of sadness or challenge.
Consider what aspects of your waking life may relate to these feelings. Are there relationships or experiences that need attention, or perhaps some aspects of your identity you wish to explore further as you navigate your emotional landscape?
